10 beautiful flooring ideas for your home

Beautiful flooring is one of those things that can take a room from ordinary to fabulous. I have flooring on the mind at the moment, as we’re looking to replace our family room carpet with…well, with something, not entirely sure what yet.

Care to take a peek at some beautiful floors that have inspired me as of late?

If you choose hardwood floors, here is the best hardwood floor cleaner to try out!

Painted floors are one of those things that I adore, but just not something I could do to my own hardwood flooring…at least not while my floors are in pretty good shape.

Apartment Therapy has a great post on painted floors, aptly titled, “How to Paint Your Floors and Not Screw It Up.”

Now THIS is a look you don’t see everyday…wood and tile flooring combined. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it, but I give the homeowners kudos for creativity. What do you think?

Vinyl plank flooring is the top contender at the moment for us. Modern Vinyl Flooring is easy to care for and inexpensive. Most are perfect for areas that can get damp (our family room is in our basement-so hardwood, laminate and cork floorings are automatically out).

Anyone have any experience with vinyl flooring? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Oh My. Stenciled floors and stairs make my heart go pitter-patter…aren’t these images, via sponsor Royal Design Studio, amazing??

LOVE the different patterns on the stairs! Check out their blog for lots (and lots!) of stenciling inspiration. Is there anything that doesn’t look better stenciled?

I think there are some beautiful mosaic tile options out there…I just adore both of these images. The blue/green/white mosaic tile floor is just so fun and unique, and the vine mosaic tile pattern above? Totally amazing.

So-what do you think? What are your favorite kinds of flooring?

Is there a kind of flooring you totally dislike for whatever reason? Or a style of flooring that you absolutely love, but wouldn’t work in your home?

This was a sponsored post, but opinions are all my own.

I forgot to mention that the ceramic tile surface is damaged, not the vinyl planks.

It seems that most any flooring will become dated at some point. I love the stenciled floors but I think I would tire of the busyness very soon. Personal preference, obviously. I have ceramic tile and luxury vinyl tile. I like both, but my tile was damaged by former tenants and now it is a nuisance to keep clean because the surface is roughened.

I did not care for the hardwood and tile combo.

The vine mosaic is beautiful!

I think the best choice for flooring depends upon the style of the home, the desired feeling, and preferences for cleaning and maintenance. Oh, and budget. Unless you are wealthy enough or you are an ambitious DIYer, I would choose something that will have a longer lasting appeal instead of something trendy. But, to each his own!

Have you ever watched the old income potential show on HGTV ? They handled the damp basement a few times. And used incredibly beautiful vinyl strips on the floor that looked just like wood. It was guaranteed against the wet issue. I would look those videos up. And flooring I find, is harder than choosing paint colors. Because of the money and time it takes. And not falling for the current trends, that will date your home.

You're exactly right! Flooring is SO hard to choose because it's a fairly permanent decision (very much unlike paint). We chose the same vinyl strips for our basement family room and are happy with them. Thanks for sharing! :)

Vinyl is firm, yet resilient, wears well, and resists water, making it a great product for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and entries.
