on trend {ethnic and tribal prints}

tribal printsIf you hadn’t yet noticed, ethnic and tribal prints have been making a huge splash in the design world thus far this year. And why not? They’re bold, interesting and add a layer of culture and sophistication to living spaces (and wardrobes!). Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite tribal-inspired pieces…

I really like tribal and ethnic prints when used well and not over done. I recently saw a bedroom in a magazine that had floor length drapes with a large ikat pattern, a tribal print area rug and a wall hanging of a different color ikat print. Sensory overload! I enjoy tribal and ethnic prints largely as accessory pieces in the home or in a scarf or top in fashion. I have a solid gold sofa in my den and I have been watching and looking for some ikat pillows in either some aqua blue shade or coral. I LOVE the ethnic print makeup bag you have pictured, how perfect is that?!?! Thanks for sharing such great pics!

I agree, Judy. And it's often overdone, in my opinion. The colors don't ways work with my style either (lots of oranges, yellows, purples), BUT, I think it can add some life and interest to a room when done in small doses. Thanks for commenting!

I think the bathroom choices could transfer easily without too much restriction. ie blue and white or even coastal, cottage type bathrooms given a few tweaks.

I agree, Nancy! Esp. since most bathrooms have a limited color/pattern palette to begin with. Thanks for commenting!
