Decoupage Pumpkin {A Tutorial}

Happy October! Megan here, from The Preppy Planner, and I have a great DIY tutorial for you today that is Halloween themed. I love decorating and displaying pumpkins, but because I live in an apartment I don’t have anywhere to display a carved creation. So to solve my little problem, I found a great way to still add a Halloween decoration that won’t make a mess and can be displayed anywhere I want to put it: A Decoupage Pumpkin!

Step 1:
To create your own decorative pumpkin you will need:
– a craft pumpkin (available at Michael’s or any craft store)
– mod podge
– sponge brush
– wallpaper, napkins, tissue paper, etc.
– scissors
– paint and a paint brush (optional)

Step 2: The first step in making your decorative pumpkin is to cut up the paper or tissue you plan on
using into smaller strips or squares.

Step 3: Put a thin layer of mod podge on the spot where you want to attach your paper, lay the paper
down, and then put another layer of mod podge on top of the paper. Continue adding your pieces of
paper until the whole pumpkin has been covered. Once dry add 1-3 more layers of mod podge over the
whole pumpkin. If you plan on keeping the pumpkin on display inside then you will only need one layer.
For outside display the more layers will help against anything outdoors.

As an added decoration I decided to paint my pumpkin stem to match my decoupage creation. I think I
might take mine into work this year to put at my desk to add a little Halloween décor.
