Updating our living and dining room has been a slow process, as it often is. I’m so happy with the end result, though. In today’s post, I’m taking you through allll the pictures, and sharing sources, when available!

Want to see some “before” images? This post has lots of photos of our living room, circa 2016 🙂

This room really started to feel like a new space when we took down our solid white IKEA curtains and hung these beauties. They’re from West Elm, though it looks like they’re no longer available. We have these in our family room, too, that’s how much we love them.

The white couch is IKEA, and the coffee table is from World Market. The armchairs can be found here on Amazon. The pillows on the armchairs are PB Teen, and the gray and white striped throws (which I ADORE), are from Target!

The watercolor picture below is one of my favorites. I took a photo I took at the beach, and turned it into a painting! Learn how to make easy watercolor paintings with the waterlogue app here! Inserted into a simple IKEA frame, it’s such a special reminder of one of our favorite places.

Have a large wall that needs some love? This gallery wall post shares all about how we created ours (including a link to the frames we love)!

And we shared an easy way to update your oak spindles and newel post with paint! We’ve been wanting to update these for a while, and so glad we finally did.

The mirror was an inexpensive Hobby Lobby find, and the rug is very similar to this Safavieh vintage-inspired rug. The blues in the rug coordinate with the blues in the curtains and pillows. It’s not matchy-matchy, just similar shades, which help gives the room an eclectic feel.

This window pane decor is a longtime blog favorite! Head to the post for the how-to! The buffet is a purchase (no longer available, unfortunately) from Ballard Designs. Lastly, the lamps are from Target!

Our living room opens to our dining room (as well as our kitchen-you can see our gray and white kitchen makeover here), and features a gorgeous canvas from World Market, as well as some framed artwork done by my littles.

Lastly, this felt magnolia wreath is a recent addition. I LOVE making these, and while most are given away as gifts, this one fits perfectly between our kitchen and dining room.

Thanks for your question! I do have a narrow console table behind my sofa that sits against my curtains. The sofa is directly in front of the console table. I haven't had a problem with the sofa moving the console table, maybe because my sofa legs are partly on carpet?

I would love to place my sofa like yours. I have air conditioning vents that are in the way. What do you have behind the sofa? How do you keep the sofa from moving into the piece of furniture behind it?
