If I had realized how easy these Puff Pastry Apple Turnovers were to make, I’d have made them years ago. Not only are they simple to make, but they taste amazing!

My kids love helping make these…from rolling the pastry to crimping the edges of the filled turnovers, this is such a fun recipe the whole family can help with!

Full recipe below! In short, though, here’s what you’ll need…

  • 4 apples, peeled and chopped
  • tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoons cornstarch
  • sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 teaspoon water)

Pull out puff pastry and let thaw. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large saucepan, heat apples, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and cornstarch to boiling over medium-high heat.

Reduce heat and simmer until mixture is thickened and apples are fork tender. Set aside to cool while you prepare pastry.

Sprinkle work surface with flour. Roll out thawed puff pastry into 15-inch square. Cut into 4 smaller squares. Brush each square with egg wash and add apple mixture to the center of each.

Fold each in half diagonally to form a triangle; press edges together to seal. Use fork to crimp edges. Place on cookie sheet; brush with egg wash. Use knife to cut a few vents into each turnover.

Bake approximately 25 minutes until golden brown.
