tissue paper canvas photo display {a tutorial}

I love colorfully-designed tissue paper, and use it for all sorts of applications ever since. Finding an 8×10 canvas lying around my craft room, I decided to decoupage an easy tissue paper canvas photo display. Love how bright and colorful it is! Read on for the how-to…

Materials:

  • Mod Podge Gloss
  • Canvas
  • Foam Brush
  • Ribbon or Twine
  • Tissue Paper
  • Washi Tape (optional)

Step 1: Gather your supplies and cut or tear your tissue paper into squares.

Step 2: Start mod podging your pieces of tissue paper onto your canvas. I worked in small sections, applying Mod Podge, adding the tissue paper, and moving to another section. Once a section was dry, I went back and added more Mod Podge and layered more tissue paper. There’s really no wrong way to go about this, just have fun creating your colorful canvas!

Almost there! Once dry, add 2-3 coats of Mod Podge, letting your canvas dry fully in between coats.

Step 3: For a little extra color and pattern, I added a length of washi tape around the sides of my canvas. If you’d rather, you can instead also cover the sides with Mod Podge and tissue paper.

Step 4: You can stop here if you’d like, and just use tape (or Mod Podge!) to attach a photo, but I wrapped my canvas with baker’s twine and tied it in the back. I can easily slip pictures in and out and change them up whenever the urge strikes.

And that’s it! Display on a shelf or wall, step back, and admire your new creation!

Thanks for reading all about my mod podged tissue paper canvas! Have a lovely day!
