summer fun with michaels camp creativity

This post is sponsored by Michaels, but all opinions are my own.

Like many parents with school-aged children, I have mixed feelings about summer break. I absolutely love that we have long stretches of time to play and explore without homework and bedtimes looming over us, but I also know I have a responsibility to plan fun and engaging activities so our summer isn’t spent in front of a screen.

Enter Michaels Camp Creativity. Camp Creativity is exactly what your kids’ summer needs. It’s a chance for your kids to express their creativity in a fun environment. Camp Creativity runs for seven weeks throughout the summer on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays , through July 29 from 10 a.m. to Noon. Each week is themed, with different activities each day. This week, the theme is Under the Sea…

My kids love being creative, and Camp Creativity was the perfect way to start our summer vacation. As much as we love to do arts and crafts at home, it was fun my my kids to create in a different environment surrounded by other kids their age. The price is right at $5 per session per child, or you can purchase 3 sessions for $12.

Camp Creativity is designed for kids 3-8. My 3 and 7 year old children both were engaged and enjoyed the entire session. Each Camp session begins at 10 a.m. and has two projects plus a journal activity and related coloring sheets.

Parents are encouraged to participate with their children, if they’d like, or they’re welcome to walk about the store and shop. Browsing Michaels selection of craft supplies, my kids and I chose no less than a dozen additional projects they want to create over the summer.

In fact, we went home and created a project inspired by the aisles of Michaels that very afternoon. Each child chose a paper mache box, some paint, pom-poms, and some self-sticking gems, and enjoyed a fun hour or so decorating their boxes. These are great not just for storing the “treasures” kids frequently come across, but they also make fun grandparent gifts.
